Who Says You Can't Sue The Government? You Can.

The Lustick Law Firm, PLLC provides strong civil rights claims advocacy all throughout Washington State.

The firm's litigators are experienced and well versed in civil rights litigation under both federal and state law which protects an individual's civil liberties. Some of these important rights include personal liberties and natural rights guaranteed and protected by the Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill of Rights, and other amendments to the Constitution as well as the rights provided under the Washington State Constitution.

Civil rights litigation deals making citizens whole who have been injured by illegal governmental action or discrimination.  Sometimes this means pursuing formal courtroom litigation against government agencies, such as counties or cities or police departments.

Other times this means using the civil rights laws to bring suits against private parties who have violated an applicable civil rights laws, employment regulations, or civil rights case-law precedents.

Some Recent Examples of the sorts of cases we have pursued recently include:
  • A woman in her own San Juan County home reported an assault to 911, but thereafter the assailant left.  The police arrived and she asked them to leave.  But they did not leave and ended up shooting her with an electronic taser gun and placing her under arrest.  The criminal charge was later dismissed.  The Lustick Law Firm suit San Juan County and received an out-of-court settlement for the woman.
  • An elderly Whatcom County man was involved in a single car accident and was then arrested for a DUI. He had a broken leg, and despite his complaints to the police, was never taken to a hospital.  Instead, he was forced to remain on the bare floor of a jail cell and was provided no medical treatment.  The Lustick Law Firm was able to get the elderly man a settlement for his pain and suffering and the DUI charge against him was reduced.
  • A professional business woman was repeatedly solicited for sexual contact by her male employer.  The sexual harassment continued throughout the time of her employment at the company, and eventually she was forced to resign.  The Lustick Law firm was able to secure a financial settlement for the woman for civil rights violations and wrongful termination.
